CURATOR’S VIEW: The image is a painting titled "Dunes," which captures the serene and vast landscape of sand dunes under a wide, open sky. The dunes are rendered in soft, sweeping curves with subtle variations of warm tones, ranging from pale yellows to deep oranges, suggesting the changing light of either sunrise or sunset. The sky is depicted with black, adding to the tranquil and expansive feel of the scene. The style is minimalist and serene, focusing on the simplicity of the natural forms. Two non-colours – black and white, bring focus on the main character – the dunes. Made of real sand and gravel from a real dune in West Wittering, on the Southern Coast of England, mixed with acrylic.
 
ARTIST’S CONCEPT: In crafting this piece, I delved into the realms of abstraction and minimalism, using the tactile quality of sand mixed with acrylic to explore the contrast between the stark, boundless expanse of darkness and the purity of light. The textural elements beckon a touch, inviting a connection with the earthy elements I used. The work is a contemplation on simplicity and the intriguing dichotomies it presents, meant to ignite a quiet yet profound energy in your space.
